For Slip Ring Motors
Our AOYP electrolyte resistance rotor starters ROTASTAT are now available for 2 to
750 kW motors. Using AOYP unique patented design of a small "
thermal chamber"; these special starters consist of an electrolyte
resistance which automatically decrease when heated. Passage of starting
current raises the temperature of the electrolyte in the thermal chamber
reducing the resistance progressively and resulting in a smooth start.
The electrodes are stationary and totally submerged in the electrolyte.
Except for pressing the start button, no further manual operation is
necessary and no special personal attention is required during starting
mode.

MAIN FEATURES
Faster Smoother Acceleration
The progressive decrease in resistance gives a smooth continuous
accelerating torque hence the motor reaches full speed in the shortest
possible time with the absence of mechanical stress.

Automatic Operation
As the resistance decreases in direct relation to the motor speed, the
possibility of misuse by the operator is minimised.
|
|
Frequent Starting
The high specific heat of the electrolyte allows a greater number of
consecutive starts.

Dangerous, Dirty and Dusty Environments
In all starters a layer of oil is floated on the top of the liquid electrolyte to form a seal. This not only prevents evaporation but also eliminates contamination from the atmosphere. No additional protection is required even in an environment laden with pollutants like dust or carbon black.

Flexibility
Rotastats are easily adjustable on site to meet a change in either
torque or motor conditions.

|
Long Life
Rotastats have no moving parts other than contactors. They require minimal maintenance, generally only topping up with distilled
or soft drinking water every six month.
|

Safety
Under any circumstances the temperature cannot rise above a few degrees more than the boiling point of water. Therefore there is no risk of fires in dusty atmospheres such as those of the wood, grain, sugar and rubber industry.
